David in NYC

David Sedaris will be in NYC November 1st and 2nd at the Apollo! Holla!

He will be reading from his new book of animal short stories, Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk. I'm almost done with them. For my birthday, my friends and I are going to see him read live. It will be my second book reading with DS! Really looking forward to it.

Plus, I love how my iPad shows off the cool illustrations by Ian Falconer (our beloved author of Olivia)!

Mary Roach is...Funny!

Recently I heard Mary Roach on NPR's show, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. She was very funny. You probably have read her books about death and sex and most recently about outer space!

If you haven't read her books, do so! And take a quick listen to her on the radio. Very funny.

Symphony Space

I went to Symphony Space- Selected Shorts program this past week to hear Richard Russo discuss the recently edited, Best American Short Stories. There were two readings, one- a short story by Jennifer Egan, "Safari" and two- a short story by Joshua Ferris, "The Valetudinarian". Hope Davis and Tony Roberts read. It was amazing!

They will play back these readings on NPR! Check them out on the radio!

Richard Russo and Joshua Ferris had a little conversation on stage. Russo's novels are quite dramatic and beautiful. I especially loved Empire Falls-novel and the HBO mini series! I am almost done with That Old Cape Magic. Great books, great reads.
